SACRED attends “Sikhs in Storytelling” conference held by Sikh American Legal Defence and Education Fund
On Sunday, May 11, 2025, SACRED was happy to support the Sikh American Legal Defence and Education Fund (SALDEF) in their event, “Sikhs in Storytelling,” a day filled with workshops, performances, panel discussions and fireside chats designed to amplify Sikh voices.
SACRED Community Organizer, Parveen Mundi, presented at the conference alongside other community leaders, artists and entertainers. The event, held at the Copernicus Center in Chicago, featured live performances, hands-on workshops about creative tools and media strategy, and art exhibitions by Sikh visual artists. In fireside chats, influential members of the Sikh community talked about how to preserve Sikh culture and the importance of storytelling in breaking stereotypes.
Other presenters included award-winning NBC investigative journalist PJ Randhawa, acclaimed author Humble the Poet, and Michigan State Rep. Ranjeev Puri (24th). A livestream of the 2025 event is available for viewing on the SALDEF website here.
